Is Slovakia or the Czech Republic better in terms of taxation of income from investment assets? How are some specific investment assets such as gold, crypto and others taxed? How about tax optimization? Can I set up a company “just like that” to invest abroad? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n

We’ll be talking about these topics on the next installment of our Highgate Talks LIVE podcast series, with “brunch” at Nivy Tower. And due to popular demand, the topic will once again be: Residential property: to buy or to rent and invest elsewhere?<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n

The event will consist of a LIVE recording of the Highgate Talks podcast, featuring Peter Varga for Slovakia and Barbora Pacl\u00edkov\u00e1 and Patrik Ko\u017eeluha for the Czech Republic. Given that Slovakia has a lot at stake due to the outflow of young people (including to the Czech Republic), it will be natural to try to show Slovakia from a fiscal lens that many may not perceive. The podcast will include an opportunity to ask the guests questions. <\/p>\n\n

The podcast will be followed by a lecture by Peter Varga on taxation of various forms of investment income. In the lecture, Peter will also highlight his practical use case comparing rented housing versus living in his own property. It will be interesting to see whether renting or buying works out mathematically better and what optics taxes play in all this. <\/p>\n\n

Peter Varga worked for five years in the Bratislava office of a major international law firm \u5927\u6210 Dentons, where he advised clients on cross-border financing and international tax law. Peter is a co-founder and partner of Highgate Group<\/a>, where he specializes primarily in transactional tax advice and creating efficient tax and legal structures for Slovak and international clients, including in the areas of M&A, private equity and venture capital investments. He also advises clients on setting up Slovak and cross-border investment funds and represents clients in proceedings before the National Bank of Slovakia and the Financial Administration.
