To have or not to have! (a quality accountant). Who can answer me, what ennobles the spirit more… Nowadays it is difficult to distinguish between quality and quantity. I have therefore decided to write a “ten 1️⃣ 0️⃣ of a correct accounting firm”. These are indicators of quality, higher standards and should also be the clients’ requirements when choosing an accountant. I will present these points in more detail in a mini series of posts. Let’s go to the first one. 1️⃣ Transparent communication. Picking up the phone, responding to email within 24h/48h. I’m sure it has happened to you too that you need to deal with an urgent matter with your accountant, but you can’t reach him (he doesn’t answer the phone, he doesn’t reply to emails). Communication is the foundation of any relationship. We set our internal rules in such a way that they increase the client’s comfort, but also clearly instruct the accountant on what he/she must follow in the relationship with the client. Of course within the framework of pre-agreed working hours. Within our internal rules, the accountant must respond to an enquiry within 8 working hours. From my own experience, I know that the client is also pleased with the answer: we will look into it (he immediately has peace of mind that he is perceived and that his request has not fallen into “spam”). The ideal scenario is when the accountant can also estimate the deadline by which he is able to look into the issue. I like to share little communication hints that increase transparency and client comfort: ➡ When a client does not pick up/refuses a call, send a message (I will call back later) – also call later 📞
➡ If a client makes an inquiry over the phone, ask the client to briefly write the inquiry in an email
➡ If the client and I agree on something over the phone, I’ll write a short note about it in the email Have you also experienced a lack of communication, or thought of a communication hint that we should know about? 😊
