In 2016, Peter Varga and I sat down for coffee at Eurovea for the first time and together we “took the courage” to leave Dentons and A&O Shearman Slovakia and start our own consulting business. When we finally decided to go for it, our business plan had only two points. The first was that we wanted to provide boutique advice in the quality and manner that we had learned by working in top international offices. The second was that we wanted to be unique in that we would link law and tax in a way that was virtually non-existent in Slovakia in this form and format until then. After only a short time, I have already discovered three essential things about Pete. That, like me, he talks less and does more, that he cares about form, but without strong content there is no point for him, and that he is determined to bring us to the top of the Slovak market in tax and legal consulting. And he has succeeded. Last night we won the Law Firm of the Year 2023 competition in the Tax Law category. This is the most prestigious and relevant evaluation of this kind in Slovakia. The tax law practice that Peto has managed to build in 7 years of our business together evokes in me not only a feeling of gratitude, sincere professional admiration and respect, but also a commitment to further develop our business marriage together. P.S.: In addition to winning the Tax Law category, we have received 5 other awards in the form of the titles of recommended law firm for the areas of mergers and acquisitions, IT law and telecommunications, intellectual property law, banking and compliance.
