Is Slovakia or the Czech Republic better in terms of taxation of income from investment assets? How are some specific investment assets such as gold, crypto and others taxed? How about tax optimization? Can I set up a company “just like that” to invest abroad?
We’ll be talking about these topics on the next installment of our Highgate Talks LIVE podcast series, with “brunch” at Nivy Tower. And due to popular demand, the topic will once again be: Residential property: to buy or to rent and invest elsewhere?
The event will consist of a LIVE recording of the Highgate Talks podcast, featuring Peter Varga for Slovakia and Barbora Paclíková and Patrik Koželuha for the Czech Republic. Given that Slovakia has a lot at stake due to the outflow of young people (including to the Czech Republic), it will be natural to try to show Slovakia from a fiscal lens that many may not perceive. The podcast will include an opportunity to ask the guests questions.
The podcast will be followed by a lecture by Peter Varga on taxation of various forms of investment income. In the lecture, Peter will also highlight his practical use case comparing rented housing versus living in his own property. It will be interesting to see whether renting or buying works out mathematically better and what optics taxes play in all this.
