How to set up and run a small investment fund? Webinar recording.

On 28.10.2020 we organized a webinar on the topic “How to set up and run a small investment fund?”. This is an area that we, as Highgate Group, deal with not only from a legal-regulatory point of view, but also from a tax-accounting perspective. The webinar was attended not only by entrepreneurs and managers from fund groups, but also by representatives from the NBS and the wider public.

As the line between collective investment (which is a regulated area with potential criminal sanctions) and equity/joint-venture/crowdfunding financing is very thin, the focus of the first part of the webinar was on this area. And there was a relatively lively discussion on these topics with representatives from the NBS:

• Where is the line between collective investment and standard equity financing or crowdfunding from a regulatory perspective?
• What is the role and practice of the NBS in supervision;
• Venture Capital Funds in Slovakia.

In addition to the above mentioned topics, the webinar covered:

• The technicalities of setting up and operating a small fund in Slovakia;
• Taxation and accounting of funds;
• Possibilities of establishing offshore funds and distribution in Slovakia.
