Blockchain has brought a whole new dimension to the perception of the functioning of society.
Blockchain has not only become a challenge for the IT sector and retail investors, the peculiarity of blockchain and investing in crypto platforms has also significantly engaged investors, lawyers, the state and banks.
This ecosystem has brought a number of practical challenges to standard investing that do not always fit into established frameworks and need to be faced with a great deal of creativity and innovation.
The aim of the conference is to bring to light a number of technical and practical pitfalls related to investing in crypto platforms, as new projects and platforms using blockchain technology are constantly emerging and becoming an investment target for both professional and non-professional investors.
Thus, the aim of the conference is not to address the technical aspects of blockchain as a technology or the evolution of the virtual currency exchange rate.
What are the regulatory pitfalls of these structures?
How is income from investors taxed?
What rights do investors have?
Are they enforceable?
How do banks react to investing in virtual currencies (tokens) and what does collective investment regulation say about ICOs?
We will also discuss these topics at the conference.
Mattia Gagliardi is the co-founder of Scytale Ventures - a crypto/Web3 venture capital firm. Mattia is working with the co-founders of the Ethereum project and other "early-movers" in the blockchain ecosystem to fund decentralized technology solutions. Prior to founding Scytale Ventures, Mattia worked as an analyst for a global long/short equity hedge fund and as a venture capital analyst.

Lubomir Ivanov is an IT Enterprice architect and investor. He is the co-founder of Merkle Tree Capital, an investment fund that invests primarily in various new technology platforms using blockchain technology and a successful private oil investment fund. Lubomir previously worked as an IT EA architect at a bank and later as a consultant for the National Network and Electronic Services Agency (including advising on blockchain) and also as an advisor on the energy sector for a Maltese hedge fund.

Jaroslav Lupták led the investment team at Neulogy Ventures, focusing on Saas and digital media. Jaro has over ten years of experience working with early stage companies. He is one of the founders of StartupAwards.sk and Future Now Conference, the largest startup event in Slovakia. Previously, he worked at Neulogy as a technology transfer consultant for several research institutions. Currently Jaro is also working as an external expert for the European Commission for the Horizon 2020 initiative. Jaro studied management and finance at the Rotterdam School of Management.

Ivan Melay is Director for Eastern and Central Europe at Bendura Bank, a Liechtenstein private bank. Ivan has extensive experience in the international structuring of his clients' businesses, including the establishment of private investment funds. This also involves regulatory obligations related to the so-called This includes the regulatory obligations related to KYC procedures, including the identification of the source of income, which is crucial for banks when investing in crypto platforms.

Peter Varga is a partner at Highgate Group, where he focuses on financial regulation and tax structuring and consulting. Prior to founding Highgate Group, he worked for several years at the international law firm Dentons, where, among other things, he participated in the second historic cross-border IPO of a Slovak issuer. As part of Highgate Group, Peter has helped to establish a number of Slovak or foreign funds. He advises clients on setting up fund or crowdfunding structures, bond issues or various loan schemes and represents clients in proceedings before the NBS and the financial administration. Peter lectures, writes articles and is relatively active in the legislative process. For example, he has been involved in the new more flexible legislation on small funds, some tax changes in the financial market area or the development of a methodological guideline on the definition of collective investment.
