Optimising the tax and levy burden in a legal way is an ambition of many entrepreneurs. But where is the line between sound rationalisation and a practice that may already provoke unwanted interest from the tax administration?
Peter Varga, partner of Highgate Group, as a lecturer at the club meeting of the Slovak Chamber of Tax Advisors (SKDP), also spoke about this topic. The topic was the increasingly discussed setup of invoicing to one’s own company, which entrepreneurs are increasingly using as a tool for effective taxation.
In the context of the gradual weakening of the principle of tax and levy neutrality of the Slovak system, such strategies are coming under scrutiny. In his speech, Peter Varga clearly presented where the limits of such practice are today, what to watch out for and in which cases invoicing one’s own company can be based on solid legal foundations.
During the meeting, Peter Varga also discussed the latest case law on this issue. During the discussion, specific examples from practice were given and warnings were given about the most common mistakes that can expose entrepreneurs and their advisors to unnecessary sanctions. We are pleased that our experts regularly participate in shaping the tax practice in Slovakia and contribute to the fact that our clients’ solutions stand up to the tax authorities.
